Pinterest Bulk Upload CSV: How to Upload and Schedule Pins in Bulk
Pinning one image at a time is the fastest way to burn out on Pinterest. If you’re an affiliate with ten products and five angles each, that’s 50 pins to upload, title, describe and schedule by hand.
Pinterest’s bulk upload fixes that. You fill in a CSV file, upload it once, and Pinterest creates (and schedules) every pin for you. Here’s how it works, what goes in each column, and the mistakes that make uploads fail.
What Pinterest Bulk Upload Is
Bulk create is a built-in Pinterest feature for business accounts. You upload a CSV file where each row is one pin. Pinterest reads the image or video URL, title, description, board, link and publish date from the row and creates the pin.
- Who: Pinterest business accounts (free to switch to).
- Where: desktop only.
- How many: up to 200 images or videos per upload.
The CSV Columns

Three columns are required:
- Title: up to 100 characters. Only about the first 40 show in most places, so put your keyword up front.
- Media URL: a public link to the image or video file itself, not to a page that shows it.
- Pinterest board: the name of the board the pin goes to.
The optional columns are where the affiliate value is:
- Description: up to 500 characters in bulk uploads. Use natural keywords and a short disclosure.
- Link: where the pin sends people. For Amazon products, point this at your own product page.
- Publish date: leave it empty to publish right away, or add a future date to schedule. Add a UTC time such as
2026-10-20T08:00:00for an exact slot. - Keywords: extra topic keywords for the pin.
- Thumbnail: only needed for video pins.
How to Bulk Upload Pins Step by Step
- Prepare the media. Use 2:3 images (1000 x 1500 px is Pinterest’s recommendation) as PNG or JPEG. For video: MP4, MOV or M4V, 4 seconds to 15 minutes; 15 to 60 seconds works best organically.
- Host the files publicly. Each file needs a direct URL Pinterest can fetch.
- Create the boards first. Board names in the CSV must match boards that exist.
- Fill in the CSV, one row per pin. Spread publish dates over days or weeks.
- Upload it in Pinterest on desktop through the bulk create option, and check the result for rows that failed.
Mistakes That Make Uploads Fail
- A wrong date format. Pinterest skips the row with an error and creates no pin.
- Page links in the Media URL column instead of direct file links.
- Board names that don’t match an existing board exactly.
- Descriptions over 500 characters. The single-pin editor allows more; bulk upload doesn’t.
Scheduling Without Looking Like Spam
Bulk upload makes it tempting to dump 200 pins in one go. Don’t. Pinterest’s guidelines name repetitive or high-volume affiliate pins as spam, and its advice is fresh content every week. Use the publish date column to spread pins out, mix angles and products, and make sure each pin is genuinely different.
Also note that Pinterest’s help pages don’t agree on how far ahead you can schedule: the single-pin scheduler says up to 30 days (and 10 scheduled pins at a time), another page says two weeks. Keeping your CSV dates within two weeks is the safe choice.
For Amazon products, point the Link column at your own product page rather than straight at Amazon. I explain why in how to promote Amazon affiliate links on Pinterest.
Tools That Write the CSV for You
Filling in the spreadsheet is the boring part, and several tools now generate both the pins and a Pinterest-ready CSV:
- Keyword-first: PinDominator, my keyword-to-pin generator, turns one keyword into a batch of image and video pins with SEO titles and descriptions and exports a Pinterest-ready CSV. It’s the one I built for faceless creators and affiliates who work from topics.
- Product-first: Pin2Profit AI starts from an Amazon product link and builds the whole campaign, including a 7-column CSV with publish dates spaced two hours apart. My Amazon to Pinterest campaign builder review covers it in detail.
Whichever you use, check every pin before it goes in the file. The tool does the typing; you’re still the one publishing. More traffic tools I’ve reviewed are on Ben’s Bonus Offers.
FAQ
How many pins can you bulk upload to Pinterest?
Up to 200 images or videos per CSV upload, from a business account on desktop.
Can I schedule pins with a bulk upload CSV?
Yes. Add a future date in the publish date column, with a UTC time if you want a specific slot. Leave it empty to publish immediately.
Why did my Pinterest bulk upload fail?
The usual causes are a wrong date format, a media URL that points to a page instead of a file, a board name that doesn’t exist, or a description over 500 characters.
Is there a Pinterest bulk upload CSV template?
Pinterest offers a template in the bulk create flow. The columns are title, media URL, board, plus optional description, link, publish date, keywords and thumbnail.
