Whiteboard Explainer Videos for Affiliate Marketing: My Skribbly Workflow (Review)

Most affiliate content that converts does one thing: it answers a question the buyer already has. “What is this?” “How does it work?” “Is it worth it?” A whiteboard explainer video answers exactly those questions, and it does it without your face on camera. A hand draws each point while a voice explains it, and the viewer follows along until the end screen tells them where to go next.

The problem used to be making them. A short whiteboard video is listed on Fiverr at $135 to $285 (the range Skribbly’s sales page quotes), which kills the math on most $17 to $47 affiliate offers. With an AI whiteboard video maker like Skribbly, the same video costs a few dollars in AI credits. Here’s how I use it for affiliate promos, step by step.

Why Whiteboard Videos Work for Affiliate Offers

  • They teach before they sell. The viewer learns how something works, and the recommendation at the end feels like the natural next step instead of a pitch.
  • They’re faceless. No camera, no studio, no editing your own face. That’s why whiteboard style is so common on faceless YouTube channels.
  • They hold attention. Something new appears on the board every few seconds, and word-highlight captions keep people watching with the sound off.
  • They end with a clear next step. The last scene is your call to action, written by the hand, with your link.

5 Explainer Topics That Fit Affiliate Promos

  1. “What is [category]?” What is affiliate marketing, what is an autoresponder, what is a bridge page. Broad, beginner-friendly, and every product in that category fits the end screen.
  2. “How does [product] work?” A plain walkthrough of the steps a buyer goes through.
  3. “[Product] vs [alternative]”: comparisons catch people who are already deciding.
  4. “Is [product] worth it?”: who it fits, what it costs, what to know before buying.
  5. “How to [result] with [product]”: one outcome, explained step by step.

Keep the topic specific. A question people actually type into YouTube or Google gives you a tighter script, because every scene answers one part of it.

My 5-Step Workflow With Skribbly

1. Pick the offer and the question

Start from the offer you promote and write down the one question your video answers. For my test I used “What is affiliate marketing?”, a broad topic that sends viewers to my bonus page at the end.

2. Let Skribbly write the script (or paste yours)

Type the topic, choose 6, 9 or 12 scenes (6 gives you about a minute and a half to two minutes), pick the language (32 available) and add a short audience note like “beginners who want to earn online”. If you already have a script, “Use my own script” keeps your words exactly. The script comes back as scene cards with a heading for the board and the narration for the voice, and you can edit both.

3. Set the call to action to your bridge page

This is the step most people skip. Skribbly writes your call to action and your link on the end screen, so point it at your bonus or bridge page, not straight at the sales page. A bridge page gives the viewer a reason to buy through you. I explained why in the affiliate bridge page math.

4. Preview, add the voice, generate

Pick the board, hand and handwriting font, switch captions on, and run the silent preview. The hand draws each scene on one connected board, and at the end the camera pulls back to show the whole topic as a mind map:

The final zoom-out of my test video: every point of the explainer on one board.

Then choose a voice (twelve built-in ElevenLabs voices, your own cloned voice, Fish Audio, or your own recording) and generate. The recording runs in real time, so a two-minute video takes about two minutes.

5. Publish it everywhere

You get a 1080p MP4 and an .srt caption file. Upload the video to YouTube with the .srt, embed it on your bridge page and your blog post, and turn the transcript into an email and social posts. One video, five places it can send traffic.

What Each Video Costs

Skribbly is $17 one-time (30-day money-back guarantee) and runs with your own AI keys: Anthropic for the script, OpenAI for the illustrations, and ElevenLabs or Fish Audio for the voice. The vendor’s figures: the script is under 10 cents, illustrations are about $1.25 for 6 scenes up to $2.75 for 12, and a whole video comes to roughly $1 to $3 in credits. Optional upgrades add vertical 9:16 Reels, comparison videos (X vs Y), listicles and more, and a $97 bundle unlocks everything.

Good to Know

  • Set up three AI keys once. It takes a few minutes and keeps the price at $17 instead of a subscription. Set a spending limit with each provider.
  • It runs in desktop Chrome and records in real time. Start the render and keep the tab in front.
  • The licence covers client work. If you’d rather sell whiteboard videos to local businesses than promote offers, you can.

My Bonuses for Affiliates

Get Skribbly through my link and my bonus stack comes with it. For affiliate promos, these three matter most:

  • Topic Scout (Chrome extension): open any sales page or YouTube video and get real autocomplete keywords, ten video topics and a fact sheet to paste into Skribbly.
  • Affiliate Explainer Playbook: the “What is X?” explainer formula for affiliate offers, 20 fill-in topic formulas and where each kind of video gets posted.
  • Video-to-Post Repurposer: turns the .srt Skribbly exports into a blog article, an email and posts for YouTube, X, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Bottom Line

Whiteboard explainers are one of the easiest ways to create affiliate content that teaches first and sells second, and Skribbly brings the cost of one down from a freelancer fee to a few dollars of AI credits. If you promote offers on YouTube or with a blog, it’s one of the more useful $17 tools you can add right now. For the full feature walkthrough, read my complete Skribbly review.

FAQ

Can I use whiteboard videos to promote affiliate products on YouTube?

Yes. Explainers, comparisons and “is it worth it” videos are some of the most common affiliate video formats. Disclose that your links are affiliate links in the video description and on your end screen page.

Do I need to show my face or use my own voice?

No. Skribbly draws the whole video and can use one of the built-in AI voices. You can also upload your own recording if you want your own voice on it.

How long should an affiliate explainer video be?

Short is fine. Six scenes give you about a minute and a half to two minutes, which is enough for one clear question and one clear next step.

Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links. If you buy through them I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, which also pays for the bonuses mentioned above. Product facts are taken from the vendor’s own sales page and my own test; your results depend on your offers, your content and how consistently you publish.
